Position Overview
\r\nThe Office of Data and Accountability guides, supports and develops school-based capacity to use information from data tools and systems to inform school planning and decision-making. The data system analyst position will aid in providing accurate, relevant, and concise feedback, to support strategic, data-driven decision-making, school and district-wide.
\r\nBachelor's degree in computer science, research methods, statistics, MIS, or related technical field preferred
\r\nExperience in research, evaluation, or statistics is strongly desired
\r\nProficient in using Microsoft SQL, Microsoft Excel, and Access
\r\nExperience with SPSS desired
\r\nExtensive knowledge of report generation tools in a web environment
\r\nExperience with PHP, ASP, ASP.NET, and other web programming tools
\r\nDemonstrated ability to create, maintain, import, and export large and small databases using SQL
\r\nOrganizational ability and skill to simultaneously manage multiple components of projects
\r\nAbility to work independently and in project teams with diverse groups of people
\r\nExcellent written and oral communication skills

\r\nTo enhance, develop, and automate department-reporting capabilities including web-reporting capabilities of forms, surveys, assessments, and NCLB report cards; and assist with populating and maintaining the district’s data warehouse system.
\r\nAssists in collecting, entering, and verifying student, school, and district level data for internal and external partners.
\r\nConducts analyses using Excel and/or other statistical software (SQL, R, SPSS, Stata).
\r\nResponds to internal and external data requests and prepares data extracts and/or interim and final reports
\r\nCommunicates with internal and external partners to clarify data requests and assist in the understanding of data shared.
\r\nManages a process for tracking all components of various data requests.
\r\nMaintains a proficient level of knowledge of the requirements under federal, state, and local mandates and guidelines for special education data management and reporting.
\r\nMaintains a strong knowledge of key partners' data sharing agreements and collaborates with Legal and other City Schools offices when necessary to receive clarification on requests.
\r\nDevelops surveys for on and off the web, including
\r\nDesigns custom reports and queries to target specific data management issues and develops monitoring mechanisms to ensure that issues are resolved in a timely fashion.
