In School Year 2022-2023 (SY23), BSD served nearly 3,300 PreK - Grade 12 students across 12 centralized campuses and additional locations for Burlington Technical Center programs. This includes providing support for 465 PreK students through 51 different partner programs in the area. In SY24, Students in BSD came from homes representing 37 different first languages.\r\n\r\nWHY BURLINGTON, VERMONT?\r\nFrom Lake Champlain to world-class skiing, Burlington has direct access to the outdoors. From hiking, to biking, golf, kayaking, or anything snow-related, you can enjoy the scenery of the Green Mountain State year-round. Burlington boasts 35 parks and a highly acclaimed recreation program, and is just 45 minutes from Montreal. Church Street Marketplace is ONE of the most successful pedestrian malls in the country offering endless shopping, historic architecture, eateries, and more, and the City features a lively Arts & Culture scene. From stage performances to the Annual Art Hop, farmers' markets, street festivals, and more, Burlington is a great place to live, work, and raise a family. What else would you expect from the Birth Place of Ben & Jerry's?\r\n\r\nWe have three core Beliefs that are driven by an engaging Superintendent - Tom Flanagan. \r\n\r\n1 - Equity: We believe our core responsibility is to make sure all of the students we serve are valued and challenged and that we intentionally build on their strengths and assets. We have a responsibility to ensure we create learning communities that are conscious of the students we serve. By addressing inequities we improve outcomes for all of our students, staff, and the greater community.\r\n\r\n2 - Engagement: We believe families, communities, and schools must work together closely. In order to engage our communities, we must be intentional about building sustaining relationships. Through building these relationships, we also build empathy, compassion, and trust.\r\n\r\n3 - Deep Learning: We believe students, particularly students who are furthest from opportunity, deserve deep learning experiences that challenge them to think creatively, to collaborate, and to solve complex problems. I believe in empowering educators to learn and grow together so they can foster environments where all students have access to deep, rigorous learning experiences.\r\n\r\nOur Goal:\r\nBurlington School District will be student-centered and responsive to the full range of identities, abilities, cultures, and languages in our community, such that every student is challenged, empowered, and engaged in their learning throughout their time in our schools.\r\n\r\nOur North Star:\r\nEvery learner is challenged, empowered, and engaged.\r\n\r\nSo come work and play with us!","employerShowImage":1,"eoeStatement":"Burlington School District is committed to maintaining a work and learning environment free from discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, pregnancy, gender, sexual orientation, marital/civil union status, ancestry, place of birth, age, citizenship status, veteran status, political affiliation or disability, as defined and required by state and federal laws.
