KCKPL was formed in 1893 and came under the authority of the Kansas City, Kansas Public School District Board of Education in 1899, where it&nbsp;remains&nbsp;today. The mission of Kansas City, Kansas Public Library is to connect members of a dynamic community with information, tools, resources, and welcoming spaces to enrich lives in Wyandotte County.&nbsp;<br /><br /></p>\r\n<p><strong>Job Goal:</strong>&nbsp;<br />The Information Technology Specialist provides technical support to library staff by installing,&nbsp;maintaining, and troubleshooting hardware, software, and peripherals across the library system. This position works directly with the Network Services Supervisor and IT Manager to ensure library technologies&nbsp;remain&nbsp;secure, functional, and&nbsp;up-to-date&nbsp;while also&nbsp;assisting&nbsp;with systems upgrades, documentation, and equipment deployment.&nbsp;<br /><br /></p>\r\n<p><strong>Essential Functions</strong>&nbsp;</p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and peripheral malfunctions for staff and public devices.&nbsp;</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Configure, install, and deploy standard operating systems and software used across the library system.&nbsp;</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Image and deploy new computers and related equipment.&nbsp;</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Maintain and organize public labs, network closets, and inventory areas.&nbsp;</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Respond to service tickets (BOSS) and&nbsp;maintain&nbsp;records of completed work.&nbsp;</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Support network printers, scanners, and copiers across branches.&nbsp;</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Communicate effectively with library staff and supervisors&nbsp;regarding&nbsp;equipment needs and technology status.&nbsp;</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Assist&nbsp;with mass installations and special technology projects.&nbsp;</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Stay informed on software and hardware updates and proactively recommend necessary upgrades.&nbsp;</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Provide&nbsp;timely&nbsp;customer support both remotely and in person.&nbsp;</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Perform other duties as assigned.&nbsp;</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n<p><strong>Qualifications</strong>&nbsp;</p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree&nbsp;required, or equivalent mix of education and experience.&nbsp;</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Demonstrated experience supporting computer hardware, software, and peripherals in a multi-location environment.&nbsp;</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Strong troubleshooting skills and familiarity with a wide range of technologies including desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and networking equipment.&nbsp;</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Experience with Windows OS, imaging tools, and basic network administration preferred.&nbsp;</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Ability to relay technical concepts clearly to non-technical users.&nbsp;</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Excellent organizational and time management skills.&nbsp;</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Must be able to work independently and collaboratively across departments.&nbsp;</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Ability to provide&nbsp;own&nbsp;transportation for travel between branches.&nbsp;</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Must be physically able to stand, kneel, walk, stoop, and lift up to 35 pounds.&nbsp;</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Must pass a background check according to library standards.&nbsp;</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and&nbsp;additional&nbsp;hours as needed.&nbsp;</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Strong commitment to the mission, values, and goals of KCKPL.&nbsp;</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n<p><strong>Physical Demands</strong>&nbsp;<br />This position requires the ability to stand, kneel, walk, stoop, and&nbsp;lift up&nbsp;to 35 pounds.
