</strong></p>\r\n<p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p>\r\n<p>Coordinate and control operating system software for the District mainframe computer, including transaction processing, security administration, relational data base software, file system usage and time sharing administration; write specialized software to support a multi-processing environment.</p>\r\n<p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p>\r\n<p><strong>REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:</strong></p>\r\n<p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Coordinate and control operating system software for the District mainframe computer; coordinate the installation of operating system software, including the installation of new releases.</li>\r\n<li>Maintain utility programs and job control language to create boot tapes for mainframe hardware configuration.</li>\r\n<li>Maintain transaction processing system software, including system generation, configuration and throughput monitoring.</li>\r\n<li>Determine and implement security requirements of the mainframe computer, including transaction processing, time-sharing and file system.</li>\r\n<li>Monitor efficient use of hardware and software through use of statistical accounting reports.</li>\r\n<li>Identify and report software malfunctions and bugs to software vendor; obtain and install corrections to system software.</li>\r\n<li>Perform related duties as assigned.</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n<p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p>\r\n<p><strong>KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:</strong></p>\r\n<p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p>\r\n<p><strong>KNOWLEDGE OF:</strong></p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Operating system software.</li>\r\n<li>Hardware configuration of mainframe computer.</li>\r\n<li>Technical control and coordination of mainframe operating system software and operations.</li>\r\n<li>Manual instructions, sufficient to enable quick and accurate diagnosis of errors.</li>\r\n<li>Basic elements of programming.</li>\r\n<li>Oral and written communication skills.</li>\r\n<li>Policies and objectives of assigned program and activities.</li>\r\n<li>Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n<p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p>\r\n<p><strong>ABILITY TO:</strong></p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Coordinate and control operating system software for District mainframe computer.</li>\r\n<li>Write specialized software to support the mainframe computer in a multi-processing environment.</li>\r\n<li>Install operating system software.</li>\r\n<li>Maintain utility programs and Job Control Language.</li>\r\n<li>Identify and explain software malfunctions to vendors.</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Maintain current knowledge of technological advances in the field.</li>\r\n<li>Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.</li>\r\n<li>Learn, apply and explain policies, procedures, rules and regulations.</li>\r\n<li>Maintain records and prepare reports.</li>\r\n<li>Plan and organize work.</li>\r\n<li>Meet schedules and time lines.</li>\r\n<li>Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\r\n<p><strong>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:</strong></p>\r\n<p>Any combination equivalent to: bachelor's degree in data processing, computer information science or a related field preferred and/or three years data processing and systems software experience.</p>\r\n<p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p>\r\n<p>ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to pass criminal background check;
